Our Story - A Gift That Grew

What started as a gift from my kitchen at Hazy Hollow Acres turned into something I never expected: a real business. Hazy Fudge is creamy, spoonable, and full of heart, infused with local wine and bourbon, and made right here in the Finger Lakes with over 60% New York ingredients. We're a women-owned, Taste NY certified company now, but every jar still carries the same care and attention as that very first batch.

It all started with a gift.

I wanted to make something special for the people I cared about, something that tasted like home. So I got to work in my kitchen at Hazy Hollow Acres, our small farm here in the Finger Lakes, and made the first batch of what would become Hazy Fudge: a creamy, spoonable fudge infused with local wine and bourbon.

They loved it. And I mean really loved it. That response planted a seed. I started wondering if this could be more than just a gift.

Why "Hazy"

The name comes from our farm. Every morning, a soft haze rises off the creek that runs through our land, wrapping the fields in mist before the sun burns it off. It felt right for the fudge too, a nod to the little bit of spirit tucked inside every jar.

From Kitchen Table to Cornell

I was 65 when I started thinking seriously about turning this into a business. I'd spent over four decades working across business, administration, and marketing, but food was brand new territory for me. So I went back to school, in a way. In 2023, I was accepted into Cornell's Dairy Runway program, where I learned whether alcohol-infused fudge could actually work as a real business, not just a kitchen experiment. From there, I moved through Cornell's Food Spark program at the Food Venture Center to get the recipe scaled, safe, and ready for real customers.

By February 2024, Hazy Fudge LLC was official: a 100% women-owned business, built from the ground up in the Finger Lakes.

A Product of This Place

Hazy Fudge only makes sense here. We use local dairy, Finger Lakes Cabernet, and Finger Lakes bourbon, with over 60% of our ingredients sourced right here in New York. Every jar is a little bridge between our dairy farms, our wineries, and our distilleries, three industries that don't often get to share a shelf.

Each batch is hand-crafted using our own patent-pending process, packed into glass jars with a wooden spoon, ready to be shared, gifted, or enjoyed all by yourself (we won't tell).

Where We Are Now

What began as a gift has grown into a business built by hand, one jar at a time. We're proud to be Taste NY certified, a 2026 sofi Gold Finalist in the Chocolate and Confections category, and a women-owned business that puts the Finger Lakes into every bite.

My family still shows up at tastings and festivals to share this fudge with new friends, because at the end of the day, that's what this has always been about: gratitude, community, and a little bit of Finger Lakes magic in a jar.
